June 22, 2020 – For more than 35 years, the International Lineman’s Rodeo has brought together linemen and their families from around the world for week of competition and camaraderie.
For 2020, the International Lineman’s Rodeo Association (ILRA) has made the difficult decision to cancel the event, originally scheduled for October 14-17, 2020, to protect the safety of the lineman and their loved ones during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 event will proceed as scheduled from October 13-16, 2021 in Overland Park, KS.
“The International Lineman’s Rodeo has persevered through natural disasters like hurricanes and other severe weather events,” said Kim Good, show manager for Endeavor Business Media. “This is the first time we have ever canceled the Rodeo, but we feel like it is the best decision. Our lineman are our first responders and we must protect them at this time.”
While the in-person events such as the Lineman’s Expo and Rodeo competition will not take place, the teams at T&D World and Utility Products magazines are striving to keep the Rodeo spirit alive this fall. For example, the 2020 Top Tools of the Trade competition is underway to honor product excellence in the electric utility industry.
