Dustin spent 17 years at the Lenawee County Road commission 10 years as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and 7 years a district foreman. Upon leaving the road commission he became a career firefighter with Pittsfield township fire department in Washtenaw County. Dustin is also an adjunct instructor for Bay de Noc College in Michigan’s upper peninsula. He teaches under a MIOSHA funded grant that allows him to share knowledge on all aspects of arboriculture work from chainsaw safety, aerial rescue, tree rigging, hazard tree cutting and chainsaw maintenance. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)-certified arborist with 11 years of experience. Owner of Ropes and Rigging tree service, Instructor for Arboriculture Canada, Michigan Fire Fighters' Training Council, Emergency response solutions incorporated and START rescue group. Brighton has served as a firefighter and emergency medical technician for 25 years and is proficient in all aspects of technical rescue, specializing in rope rescue, traveling the country instructing in rope rescue applications from tree rescue to working with tow boat/ barge operators on Americas river systems. Specializing in working with heavy wreckers and heavy rigging, teaching a joint class for firefighters and wrecker operators to work together on wrecks involving large trucks. Most recently he had the opportunity to be the keynote speaker for the upper Michigan safety conference in 2022 where he spoke on Workplace emergency preparedness, (Who lives Who Dies and Why). Dustin also owns his own training company Great Lakes Training Solutions, which offers a large variety of training opportunities in specialized areas. Dustin is a proud father to four daughters and spends his free time traveling the Midwest watching his four daughters’ rodeo, specializing in speed events like barrel racing and pole bending.
